It had been truly fantastic being around with my friends whom I have not really spent a lot of time with these few days. Playing mahjong throughout the night, taking a night stroll along the beach, engaging in “Men’s Talk” (actually I just listened, could barely cut in. They were too taken away.), playing the X-box and swearing a great deal. We were like talking about the good old NP days when we had our Unit Chalet and had like 10 plus people squeezing in a small chalet apartment in Costa Sands, having BBQ that tasted like burnt charcoal and literally bit the dust and inhaled all the soot. Everywhere we turn in the chalet, we seem to be searching for the footprints that we had left behind for the past few years. The chalet had not changed, no doubt the facilities had been upgraded, but I can’t help thinking, “Have we changed?”
I was pleased that there was the chalet to exorcise my fears. We were just as cocky, just as playful, just so… us. Talking about chio bus, observing and mentally taking down some details and pointers to add spice to our conversations. If you ask me, we have not changed one bit. We even came up with scenarios as to what if we got into same platoon the year after, what if we each became so busy we can't meet up? What if...
And I will remember what WS said,"We might not have common interests. But somehow, we came together and we bonded well. (chemistry?) We have people studying biology, computing, maths, english and humanities, and chinese and literature. But somehow we can click." Indeed, it is a wonder fate brought the five of us together. We will continue to be friends until we grow old, until we die. As long as we forget those excuses we can make, we can make this come true. At least, that's what I have been assured of after these years.
