Thursday, January 29, 2009

In Simplicity We Seek
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
In science there is this principle Occam's Razor that decrees that if two competing theories both explain the facts and make the same predictions, then the simpler one is correct.
Sometimes we end up covering up explanations with more explanations and weaving a greater web of complication when we get too caught up with details.
But that's science and logic, human relations are another thing.
On a side note, makeup is something like that, covering and concealing what one has applied, the significance of which is self-derived. The fact I suddenly brought up this example has probably raised some quizzical eyebrows but well, I just had to include something I learnt from Makeup Class 1101E given by none other than a certain Ms Denise Yuen who was kind enough to conduct the lesson in the canteen, with alfresco concept in mind, not to mention the totally unrehearsed presence of so many who happened to be nearby. Oh well, it is always interesting to know a little bit more.

... only to be told by the tram driver that we were only couple of hundred metres from the top.
Yes, it is but a teacup in a storm or is it but a storm in a teacup.

For that we rewarded ourselves with lunch. About S$4.50 for this set meal. One of the cheaper meals we had. Or should I say cheapest.. (a foreshadow of things that will come later)
Train rides are shorter when you talk to each other.
He has a thing for post boxes. Not.
Trams that looked cute on the road.
Cheers to us all.
Dinner was exquisite.
The popular dish was roast goose.
Thumbs up for this place! (and the money spent)
Interesting shop names.
Always beware of dark well-lit alleys where bullying is always around the corner.
No none of them broke their backs.
And up we go... to the Peak.
After a long stretch of escalators and through this winding road..
we were officially lost. (No actually we were at the middle point. Here's cheng checking out the map, which says we only have to walk along this mountain path to reach the peak.
And so we walked...
and walked...
and stopped..
Before walking again.. Memories of a*my route march flooding back... We were too crazy... singing aloud without a care in the world as we trekked. Our song list includes community songs from back in the good old sec school days. So if someone heard 关怀方式 and "If we hold on" that night, it is not something of the supernatural.
The scent of the rich..
Rewarded with a nice view for our efforts of choosing to trudge up the mountain instead of taking a tram from the bottom.
And finally we reached this tram stop where we were about to take the tram up...
We made a dash to the finishing line, all smiles..
And met Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who happened to be there as well.
And hence began our cam-whoring at Madame Tussauds.
I hope she is happy now..
And him too.
And her as well.
We have our own agent in our midst.
We love the Beatles!!
We try hard to fake the moonwalk..
Saturday night fever for them..
See what I mean.
Comon Woods. You can see THAT!
Elated soccer fans
The wind was frigid that night. But that didn't stop Gavin's “我听到了”pose.
I knew it. The world is a matrix. We can fly!
We never get tired of this.
"LOST" in 兰桂坊
Taxis in abundance lined up along the road, ready to pick up anyone who has decided to call it a night.
No we didn't.
We only walked around the place 3 times...
Finally decided to settle down for a small drink. What happens after this is unpublished. And so ends the second day.
