Last day
Sunday, August 28, 2005
Actually it was the last official day, but the mood was already set. A bit gushed down by sentiments, especially when I am done reviewing the thick stack of papers that is our class magazine, laying placidly on the shelve. I guess I will find some other way to bind it other than the usual method, because I suspect some of the words on the edges will be marginalised. It's a wierd feeling on friday, lazing about, taking photos, talking like we used to when we were in J1 or first three months. Perhaps it's because I haven't felt the impending dread of leaving this place, something that have caught my other classmates like an unconstrained virus. It's not as though I haven't been expecting this day, after reading a senior Xiya's blog last year probably at this point in time, when it was THEIR last day. But now, it's ours. Officially, that is. But all the same, no more common breaks, no more lessons, tutorials and slacking about waiting for lessons to commence, especially on tuesdays, and of course, no more PE, which we have only come to enjoy this term after temporarily failing to see its significance since early this year. But it's good that we finally cherished the two periods per week of game, even though it's Captain's Ball, but it's still a class game.
Most memorable was Kang Hao's message I received on Friday night. Apparently it's the first time I received something I can consider to be rather sentimental and nostalgic from Kang Hao, of all people. No offence but I was pretty jolted. But it just shows how strong the warmth was there and then, and how it will continue to envelop us.
Then Saturday was PC CIP. Wont go into the details except that I was damn shagged looking after a bunch of kids who left me at my wits end. Since when did kids at that age behave like that? Anyway, it was then it struck me that one year has passed. This time last year I was already close to wrapping up the nurturing programme and emceeing for MAF. But now... wow, it just amazes me how time has flied. Ziqian, Jinghan and Terence came back, and so did she. Was rather surprised to see the latter. Probably mugging in the library. So after the thing ended, went to eat with ZQ and as usual chatted about anything that came to our minds.
One thing remains, "Two years can change a person, by alot."

Helplessness
Friday, August 19, 2005
It's good to see that Switzerland is going strong following its policy of neutralism. I shall seek to do the same. Being too locquacious sometimes disadvantages you. At least if you keep your mouth shut, people won't be too surprised if you act like a mute when you are around them for most of the time. The bottomline of the whole thing is routine. Time takes things for granted.
And I am so helpless. Drowning in the mist of time.

Army Daze

Yessterday was 15th LEP anniversary celebrations and boy, were there many seniors who came back. First time I see the LEP room packed full to bursting. Really pleased by the efforts put in by the council after knowing how hard they have slogged and seeing how successful it was. Great job guys! Must maintain such standards for future activities!
Must admit that I quite resented having to come back on a saturday but I think it was time well spent. Saw the bubbly seniors once again since Huang Cheng performance and it was always enjoyable to engage in mindless banter with them, just to know how they are doing and where the girls are studying in. (The guys are no doubt in camp, more on that later) Saw Cai Yin, the channel 8 news TV broadcaster. Was surprised that she came back, she being the only person in her cohort (she belonged to the first batch of LEP) who returned. She had that photogenic look about her and rather obviously, she became the centre of attraction, joining the vice principals and other teachers in their conversations and taking the symbolic picture that will definitely have subtitles that go "Our pride and joy coming back" attached to it. Guess everything boils down to realistic sense in the end. But all the same, was quite well-entertained by everything.
After that, went to PS with Futh, Terence and Alvin. They planned to ask other 61 seniors to meet for dinner but in the end none came, except Kian Wee. Nonetheless, it was nice to see my dearest SM after so long. He had so busy throughout the year I didn't even get to see him at all. He hadn't change alot but he had the look of an army officer that I suspect had been present since his days in NCC. I actually planned to just get a drink with Futh and Tsai before leaving for home but then decided to go Fish and Co after Kian Wee arrived. There, we had fun flaming the performer and passing snide remarks at how well he sang and the three guys, whom I suspect were rather deprived since their involvement in NS, spent their time oogling at a particular Malay waitress, whom they feel have that seductive air about her. So they sort of sent her for rounds having to refill their mugs, doing it one at a time when they could have simply asked her to refill all of their drinks in one go. Futh was 'best'! He directly asked for her name and there was an awful pause of 2 seconds which I could have sworn I saw the quizzical expression on the waitress' face before she mouthed her name and proceeding to the next table. All this while, Vin and I were just watching on in quiet amusement.
As usual, the three of them wowed us with their stories in camp, about the unreasonable punishments they had to endure with cursing and swearing being the only thing that can reduce the displeasure. Kian Wee was the only senior I know who's in OCS, or officer cadet school. So he's like on his way to being captain, which is a far higher rank than many other seniors I know of. Would definitely be wierd when people he know (including Futh and terence) would have to address him "sir" when they see him in camp. At this time, there was a blackout in Fish and co, which we blamed on the electricity power being ill-receptive to the performance.
Played CS after dinner, forgoing Tian Long Ba Bu. Overall, it was great fun.

Chocolates
Friday, August 05, 2005
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" reminded me so much of "The Polar Express". Beautiful sets, props, wonderful technology, extravagant production costs, but a mediocre plot. The opening was no doubt well-handled and the build-up was reasonably nice but as the show moved from the part when Charlie won the golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, I felt everything was slowed to a crawl. Nonetheless, there were particularly entertaining bits, when the squirrels made their appearances, cracking nuts and it definitely made me develop a desperate craving for chocolates.
Ah!! So sinful.

Away it goes and along came...

Just finished dwelling in the nostalgic memories of choir and here comes HC 2005 VCD, packaged in such vibrant and buoyant colours that hide the three months of warmth and joy.
I am not a very emotional person. Ok correction: I let my emotions well up within me but don't let them fall as tears. But watching the ending, just the ending, when we were holding hands singing "唱一首华初的歌", that was just... too unbearable.
