Realised it's the first time I missed typing an entry on 16 june.. But before I start on my latest ROC expedition, shall first give some shoutouts to the following lovely people who are kind enough to remember. Sorry if I did not reply to you guys but each of your well wishes definitely made my day memorable. As for the younger generation there, they dress up really well, good enough to make a lasting first impression. The guys there have this tendancy to style their hair in more or less the same way, keeping an almost similar fringe and long hair that reaches to their shoulders. The girls tend to wear makeup everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE they go. Even night markets where you have to squeeze in crowds and such. Roughly 7 out of 10 will spot long, straight hair with doll-like fringes (think Rainy Yang) and they seem to be greatly influenced by japanese school culture too. I see young girls dressed in gothic sense roaming around the streets of Xi Men Ding. Many often comment that Taiwanese girls look very pretty and hot. I guess there is some truth to it. The fact is there is at least one pretty salesgirl in each clothes shop, be it Xi Men Ding or Shilin Night Market. I wonder what will happen to the average looking female who is trying to look for a temp job... Looks really count quite alot over there, or at least appearance does. By appearance it means how you dress. Taiwanese must really have alot of time to put so much effort into their daily appearance, especially the females. How much do they have to spend on cosmetics if they rely so much on it on a daily basis?! And they do have a very, very fair complexion, females and males alike. The 8 of us looked as though we were African chinese when we stand next to them, and the fact that we were casually and sloppily clad in slippers, t-shirt and shorts did not help at all. We were getting weird glances when we were walking around Xi Men Ding at night. Think I should just let the pictures do the talking. (with a little narration): The last time I went to Taiwan was during LEP immersion and the whole lot of us knew Shilin Night market like the back of our palm by the end of the trip. So this time my group explored almost every part of Xi Men Ding and by the last day, we have finished looking through each shop at least once. This time around, I went back to a few places I visited two plus years back. I see very little changes. Shilin very much looks the same to me. Danshui is just as beautiful and vibrant. 蚵仔面线、鸡排、鲁肉饭、蚵仔煎,味道不变,我们却又如何?
And tadah... theres the toilet at the train station... all along just in front of us, within clear line of sight.. But I was contemplating taking a shot of the toilet but there were just too many people going in and out and it definitely seems Weird with a capital W if a person is taking pictures outside a toilet.. But anyway the point is Taipei is just such an interesting place... they like to measure distances alot..A blur image of the streets of Xi Men Ding I purposely took through the windows on the fourth level of a KFC outlet (yes their KFC actually has got 4 whole stories to itself)
Two pictures of the same Xi Men Station. One early at 4.30am (yes the sky lights up really early) and the other at around 1pm.Obviously this is the 101 tower, and the two hearts you see on the building, it is a service open to dating couples who want to tell the world that they are about to be married. A couple can ask to show the lighted-up words " I DO" on the tower, for a price of course. According to a taxi driver, its about 3 million dollars, for the duration of roughly one week, for three letters.. Talk about playground for the rich.
Ok I know it's abit act cool but we took pictures of us doing this same pose wearing this shirt for a purpose. Don't get it? Never mind.
Nice right? This is one of my favourite pictures I took for this trip. These were pasted on a stretch of wall in along one of the streets in 淡水. The bright colours definitely caught my attention but it took a bit of time to get this shot because there was a huge crowd of people by passing.
Group shot in 淡水. I realise how hard it is for a group of guys to ask for help from passers-by to take a group photo.
A shot I took in 北投公园. Relaxed people, relaxing environment. The two people in the foreground are chatting while behind them, a model is doing a shoot, probably for a magazine. The guy sitting on the grass patch has a camera with him. And in case you wonder why I am actually doing picture description over here, it's just I am afraid you can't see clearly because the picture is too small.
Haha yes... we actually went singing during the wee hours for the last day. The ktv lounge there really rocks.. better than any outlets we have here. There's even an inhouse toilet in every room. And the past midnight rates are reasonable, less than S$25 dollars per person.
Just had to take down this special remote control in the ktv lounge. It has options like 走音救星、合唱、唐老鸭声音、欢呼声、红磡体育场、歌剧院、浴室、隧道 that allow you to sound really funny, make your voice sharper or deeper and such.Yes I know this looks like just a normal shirt but the size is actually as large as my palm. It is actually just a T-shirt that is folded, compressed and packaged into the shape of a T-shirt. (I hope this sounds logical) So if you want to wear it you will have to tear out the package and what you will get is just a very crumpled and creased shirt. But I like the design picture.
