Make Up

Sunday, December 09, 2007

My original plan was to put a picture of a before and after makeup example to illustrate the power of makeup. I saw on the net but decided not to in the end because it doesn't sound like a very nice idea, so those interested can go here have a look yourself.

Don't flame me because I am not one who opposes to the use of makeup. But sometimes when I am walking along the road and come across some really attention-drawing passers-by with so much makeup on their face that will make all those makeup brands very proud, I can't help thinking if people who meet them everyday (not people like me who only trade them fleeting glances) will be able to recognise them for who they are (or appear to be) once they do away with their makeup.. Or if they will be able to recognise themselves for who they really are.

While makeup is definitely a confidence booster and image protector for many, (can I say mostly females too because males who actually put up makeup really belongs to the minority) I personally feel maybe those who put on makeup regularly or even daily can slowly try to grow less reliant on makeup. I really wonder how much one can spend on makeup? Can someone tell me? But then again, that is the price of beauty I guess... I heard somewhere that "It's better to not start using makeup, because it will be hard to quit."

On a side note, sometimes the power of makeup is really scary. I didn't know a good one has the effect of plastic surgery... My friend once joked " Can you imagine waking up in the morning turning to the girl beside you going 'Hey who are you? Where's my girlfriend?'" Kinda sad.. But that will teach guys to not be too overly superficial..
